Miscellany Monday

I'm linking up again with Carissa for Miscellany Monday.
I love sharing bits about my weekend with you!
miscellany monday at lowercase letters

Another busy weekend at my house! I think my office is almost complete, that should mean more time for relaxing! Here is a sneak peak of the organized cupboard in that space.

We've lived in our condo for about 6 years and finally got curtains for our bedroom. We took down these nasty vertical blinds. Yes, vertical. Who puts vertical blinds in a bedroom?! Well, they're gone and that's the good news. Bill was at Ikea (again) and picked up the curtains I wanted. They are hung but need to be ironed and hemmed.

Sunday night I had a little treat. Peanut butter and M&M's. Delish!

Whidbey managed to open this drawer and squeeze himself into it. He's very resourceful when it comes to napping places.

Enjoy your Monday.

High Five for Friday

Hey. Friday Five. Highlights from this week. Enjoy.

one.
This week went by {whoosh} so fast! I spent two whole days cleaning and organizing all of our learning materials. I was exhausted. I mean, I am exhausted.

two.
Poppy and Pippa is on fire! I love it. Lots of sales = lots of time at my new desk! Three international orders this week!

three.
I'm doing some sponsor swapping in May. It's my first time. I'm nervous but, got everything sent off to the four swap blogs. If you're interested in swapping I'd love to hear from you!

four.
Ikea. Bill went back to Ikea on monday and got me this tall cabinet. It has fantastic storage and is a great place for Whidbey to lounge.

five.
Organized. Finally!

April Birchbox

I received my Birchbox last week. It took over 10 days from the shipping notification from the company until it was actually in my mailbox. Umm, that's a bit long don't you think?

Here are my thoughts about this month's box. First of all, I love how it comes packaged a box within a box. Everything inside is so nicely wrapped with tissue and tied with ribbon. It truly feels like a gift each time I open one.

All natural products this month.

Full size product! It's an all-in-one beauty balm. You can use it
for your lips, eyes or cheeks! It is perfect for my skin tone.

A box of huge cleanser and moisturizer samples. The cleanser
smells like mint - great for a morning wake up. The
moisturizer has a soft scent similar to sunscreen. Unfortunately, my
cleansers were EXPIRED (in 2010). Birchbox deposited 100
bonus points into my account to make up for it.

The other items included in the box were perfume {Atelier Cologne: Orange Sanguine} Tea {Le Palais Des Thes} and Everyday Everyone Everything Skincare Oil {Olie 004 Huile Moderne}
  • The perfume is delicious. I love the soft citrus scent
  • Haven't tried the tea - not super excited about this
  • The skincare oil has an EXTREMELY strong smell - gave it to my bestie - she loves it!!
Overall, I think this is a good box. I think the full size multi-tasking beauty balm is going to be the winner of the box this month.

Do you get Birchbox? You can get a subscription for only $10 a month and can cancel at anytime! Visit here for more information. I can't wait for the Gossip Girl Birchbox next month!!

Seriously?! and My New Coffee Mug

Seriously?!
So as I'm enjoying a wonderful slumber last night the door bell rings...the door bell rings and someone is knocking VERY loudly. I look at the clock. It's 4 am. Bill gets up, is not dressed, and I believe a bit confused. He fumbles to get dressed (out of his wonderful slumber) to be greeted at the door by a policeman. Yes, one of the boys in blue is at our door at 4 am. Bill invites him in. He declines. He then goes on to tell Bill (I'm standing around the corner listening as I'm not dressed) that our blue car has been broken into. Yes, my little Honda Fit was violated! Poor guy/car. Anyway, the officer asks Bill to see if anything is missing.
At this point I chime in and say that maybe I should come too, it's my car. I walk outside to see two police cars with a "hooded sweatshirt clad perp" in the backseat of one of them. The officer shows me a bag that was taken from my car and asks if anything has been taken from it. I then laugh and know the joke is on the "perp." All that was in that bag was a Winnie the Pooh book. Hahaha. I laugh. Really hard. Jokes on him! I go on to look through the rest of my car and the only other thing missing are my prescription sunglasses. Jokes on him again...unless he has the same prescription as me and enjoys women's sunglasses. Hahaha. I asked the officer if the car was damaged (apparently I'm blind at 4 am) he replied with a no and that the "perp" said that it was unlocked. Hmmm? Really? Ok. I guess I forgot. So we go and checkout Bill's Mom's car (he made another trip to Ikea yesterday and our cars are too small) the glove compartment is open. Oops. I guess they got her car too. Nothing of importance was taken. Thank goodness. I guess her car was unlocked too. Seriously?! I don't think so.

I am flabbergasted at the fact that the "perp" was allowed to TEXT while sitting in the backseat of the police car! Seriously?!! So, I guess the "perp" got lucky with me. A Winnie the Pooh book and prescription sunglasses. Hahaha. I didn't lose anything of importance except for sleep. Thank Goodness!!

Now on to the Coffee Mug Swap!

I participated in a coffee mug swap and received a super Springy mug from Brook over at Cutesy Bootsie. She is a former Minnesotan just like me! She said she checked out all of the things on my blog and that's how she chose the mug for me. It's from Anthropologie and boy did I get excited when I received the bigger than a coffee mug box in the mail! At first I thought Bill really listens when I talk. I was so excited I could barely breathe! As soon as I opened the box and saw the smaller box inside this bigger box (why do they do that?!) I knew it was from Brook!

Here are a few pics I took of the mug right before I used it with my FAVORITE Starbucks Via Caramel coffee.

Thanks Brook! I love it!

Miscellany Monday

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I'm linking up with Carissa from Lowercase Letters to share some  miscellany. Enjoy!

Miscellany Monday @
lowercase letters
On Saturday I got together with some gals for a baby shower. At one time we all worked together but, since most have gone on to other things. Allie, the gal we had the baby shower for, moved to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area about two years ago. It's so great that we can all get together like no time has passed at all!

On Sunday I had the privilege of hanging out with my beautiful niece, Sophie. She is a hoot! She was only here for about an hour but I think we had a great time. She giggled, chased Whidbey, had a snack, chased Whidbey, played with Whidbey's toys, watched the birds with Whidbey, and finally got a kiss from Whidbey before she left. I think Whidbey had as much fun as she did - he didn't run away so I see that as success!

For the first time ever I have my entire week of blogging planned out! I am so proud of myself because I know it may never happen again. I am also going to do some sponsor swapping with a few gals in May...if I get my butt in gear and get them the info they need. If one of them is you. I'm sorry. If only there were more minutes in the day!

Have a great Monday!

High Five for Friday!

Thank you Friday for being here for me. I really needed to see you today.

Time to link up with Lauren at From My Grey Desk to share some highlights from this last week. Luckily there were several even though it was crazy busy.

one.
My new desk. I love it. I can't wait to spend some time this weekend putting away and organizing all of my Poppy and Pippa supplies!

two.
Dinner with two great friends. We've been planning to get together for months and it finally came together! It was such a nice time of catching up.

three.
Fun during a stressful week. Yesterday we had a yummy potluck for one of the interns that's going to be done. It was great food and a great way to chill at work...for a half an hour. My friend Amy has a fancy app on her phone and took this ridiculous picture of me.

four.
A trip to ULTA and dinner with Jess. I love living vicariously through her. She travels all over the world for work and ended up finding the love of her life in France! She just got back from visiting her mother-in-law there. She takes fantastic pictures so it's easy to imagine what it was like. Also, she brings me back the BEST shampoo and conditioner I have EVER used! Seriously. We had a fabulous time!

five.
I'm looking forward to seeing a friend from work that moved away about 2 years ago. Several of us that used to hang out together are "reuniting" for lunch on Saturday. Should be a blast!!

Proverbs 15:13

I have been so busy this week that I just noticed I have over 200 blog posts to read on my Bloglovin' list! Sorry folks - don't think I'm going to have time to read them all. It's been one of those weeks when it seems like every single minute is scheduled. Some of the things are fun things like visiting my sister, going out to dinner with Stacy and Holly, or seeing a Jess after her trip to France! And some of the things are not so fun like meetings, meetings, oh yeah and more meetings. Today is another one of those super scheduled days. But enough of my sob story - I want to leave you with this picture I took while I was at my friend Holly's house last week. She has a great big chalkboard/magnet board in her kitchen - helps keep the kiddos busy while she's making dinner. I like that she used the part that the little ones can't reach to write this message.

Do you have a cheerful face?

New Office Update!

Super busy this week so I have just a short post today. Bill got my desk at Ikea this weekend and surprised me with fabulous storage drawers to match! Check it out.

It's a work in progress. That painting will not stay; it's going to Bill's (real) office. I love how large the desk is and those storage drawers!! Wow. A small flat screen TV will go on the small shelf as well as my postage scale. The printer is going to go under the small shelf. You can see a bit of those in the pic below. I have lots of plans for this space. This is just the beginning but, just couldn't wait to share it.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Whidbey has his very own "Mac" bed in my work space :)

Make it a GREAT day!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday is one of my favorite posts to write because I get to share the random. I hope everyone had a great weekend!
Miscellany Monday @
lowercase letters

My first Poppy and Pippa party was a huge success!  It was a lot of work to prepare for it - getting all of the kinks out. The next one will go off without a hitch.  I was so exhausted afterwards but, it was a good exhausted. My friend Holly invited me to do the party; she has been wanting to have one for some time now. We even made plans to do another one!

A box came in the mail on Saturday; It was filled with beautiful elastic. I love the new elastic hair ties in my shop. I now have approx. 30 colors available. I spent some time on Saturday working on the hair ties and headbands. Here's just a glimpse at the recently purchased elastic.

I did a little shopping on Saturday as well. I love shopping with a gift card. Here is what I got:
These super comfy khaki's in pink. They are so soft and have a relaxed fit. I could get them in every color! They seem to run big so get a size down.

I've been on the hunt for a new pair of boyfriend jeans with no success. I am so disappointed. So I settled on these. I love them. They are the perfect in-between skinny and normal fit. I got the ankle length so I could roll them.

Whidbey had fun in my lightbox in between taking photos of product.

Have a Great Monday. Talk to you Tomorrow!
Laura
